Canadian intern appeals Belgian detention in NATO espionage case

• The Canadian intern of Chinese origin appealed a Belgian order placing her in pretrial detention for one month, prosecutors said.
• She is accused of espionage for an unidentified third country and membership in a criminal organisation while working at SHAPE in Mons.
• The appeal was filed with Belgium’s Indictments Chamber, which must rule within 15 days, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said.
